Ashgrove House Nursing Home in Purton, Wiltshire are currently looking to recruit Registered Nurses who are available to work various daytime bank shifts, dependant on availability and commitments.

Shifts times include 07.30-13.00, 07.30-16.00, 12.30-21.00 and 16.00-21.00.

In the past 30 years, care as a whole in the UK has changed, mainly as a result of changing legislation. However, Ashgrove House Nursing Home is still owned and managed by the family who set it up, Keith and Mary Trowbridge, who are both registered nurses with almost 80 years of care experience between them.

Most residents are highly dependent and frail, aged between 48yrs and 104yrs.  Their problems vary from moderate to late stage dementia, bariatric, stroke, brain injury or physical disability. The home organizes regular activities for residents and encourages them and their families to treat the home as their own home, with no set visiting times, a family kitchen and bedrooms that the residents are encouraged to personalize and decorate.

Ashgrove House Nursing Home, has recently won the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) challenge 2014. The home regularly enters the NAPA Challenge and came runners up in the competition two years ago.  However, the approach the home took had to be adapted due to the vast differences in capability, skills, interests, abilities, needs and tastes of residents at the 34-bed home.

The role itself:

  • To be part of an allocated team of Trained Nurses, Team Leader, Senior Carers and Carers.
  • To accept responsibility for the care of allocated residents and for day care clients during the shift period.

  • To be aware of the requirements and ensure compliance with CQC in relation to the nursing care of all residents and day care clients.
  • To be familiar with and work within the NMC Professional Code of Conduct
  • To demonstrate a commitment to developing and improving clinical skills based on research, to enhance the delivery of care.
  • To take responsibility for their own personal and professional growth as required by the NMC.
  • To be familiar with and work within the homes Health and Safety policy.
