Big Bear Recruitment are currently recruiting for a cook to work within a care home environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, quality and presentation of food in the home whilst taking account of budgetary guidelines advised by the company. The post holder will be required to communicate with the kitchen, the care home team and the residents. Communication is essential in order to plan and provide nutritious, interesting, well liked meals which meet the expectations of the residents.
If successful you will be required to prepare menus following a planned menu, undertake the monitoring of stocks, staffing levels, portion control, quality, etc. In accordance with the budgetary controls, advise Staff on special dietary requirements, ensure suppliers are properly checked on delivery and that invoices are correct.
Other important duties include:
• Working within the COSHH and Safer Food Better Business Guidelines
• Assist in the interviewing and selection of kitchen staff
• Support staff in the home in the achievement of the highest possible standards and the minimisation of waste
• Promotion of economic and cost effective budgeting
