Care Assistants

Key Function: To carry out a range of duties within the day to day planned programme of care, in order to provide a high quality of care within the key worker system

Main Duties:

• Assist clients with all aspects of personal care
• Adhering to Company policy and Procedure
• Complete documentation as required
• Assist clients with feeding
• Ensuring that clients clothing is well maintained and stored, and ensuring that clients have adequate clothing to meet with their individuality
• Assisting clients to shop for small items with approval of the senior nurse on duty
• To accompany clients on trips and outings
• To participate in in-house activities
• Participate in regular Fire Drills
• Converse with the clients and relatives
• Encourage self help and independence in the clients
• Report any changes in clients’ condition, and assist in review of the care plan
• Attend and participate in staff meetings
• To attend in-house and external training sessions to promote improved care
• Respond in emergencies/crises as requested by the nurse in charge
• To be familiar with Health & Safety Regulations as they relate to the Home
• Practice safe moving and handling
• Follow specific COSSH procedures
