“I am so proud of my mam. She is 84 years old and lives on her own. She gets up every morning with a smile on her face, has her breakfast, usually cereal and toast and sometimes even a full English but always with a cup of tea poured from her china teapot. She gets dressed, choosing her outfit for the day, and still likes to have her hair done and put a bit of make up on, and then she is raring to go.

Decisions…decisions, what to do? Sometimes, she will go shopping followed by lunch in a nice pub or it might be her day to go to the local community centre for her keep fit session. Then she returns home for tea, watches her favourite programme on TV before settling down for bed, while deciding what to do tomorrow. There’s just one very important factor missing from this picture and that’s my mam’s Bluebird Care Assistant. Without their care and support my mam would struggle to do this by herself.”

Every member of staff is required to apply for, and achieve, a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau check.

DRIVING LICENCE and ACCESS TO OWN CAR IS ESSENTIAL. By its nature, domiciliary care requires Care Assistants to travel from place to place. Care Assistants must therefore have the ability to do this.
