An exciting opportunity within a beautiful Wiltshire nursing home. We are looking for bank staff with weekend availability to work alongside the permanent workforce in providing an outstanding level of care to our residents. We offer full training and in addition support all staff to enrole, within 6 months of employment, in a Diploma in Adult Health and Social Care.

Role:
Demonstrate an ability to undertake the role of Nursing Assistant with or without previous experience
Able to participate in the induction and probationary process to acquire a knowledge and awareness of specific care needs of the residents
To establish good working relationships and be part of an allocated team of Trained Nurses, Team Leaders, Senior Nursing Assistants and Nursing Assistants
To be able to work under supervision in providing care and acknowledge when to seek advice and guidance from others to ensure a high standard of care is maintained
Able to deliver care needs in a respectful, positive and caring manner and able to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity towards the care needs of residents, their families and friends
To provide effective communication across the multi-disciplinary team and care staff using both written and verbal means
To work within the requirements and ensure compliance with CQC in relation to the nursing care of all residents and day care clients
To participate in developing and improving skills to enhance the delivery of care and take responsibility for own personal and professional growth ackowledged at appraisal
To be familiar with and work within the homes Health and Safety policy
Responsibilities:
To participate in the Homes responsibility for the health and well being of residents under the supervision of Senior Nursing Assistants, Team Leaders, Nurses and Managers
To work as part of the team, setting and maintaining standards, ensuring care is delivered to the highest level
To promote staff harmony and a good working atmosphere, providing a safe and comfortable environment for both staff and residents
Able to use initiative and liase with other team members to enable effective delivery of care
To report verbally or in writing to Senior Nursing Assistants, Team Leaders and Nursing staff on all aspects of a residents care needs in order to ensure that specific individual needs are recognised and met
To identify and communicate to Senior Nursing Assistants,Team leaders, Nurses and Managers any incidents, acts or omissions or complaints as deemed appropriate and keep the management team updated and informed of relevant information regarding the daily running of the home and problems encountered
To adopt and support a rehabilitative approach towards the needs of individual residents and assist and encourage residents according to their assessed capabilities to participate in all aspects of daily living
To provide as necessary assistance with all aspects of personal care and hygiene and be responsible for tidiness of bedrooms and bathrooms, bedmaking, care of clothing/linen and laundry duties as required
To serve meals and beverages to residents and provide assistance where necessary to those who require it in a dignified manner
To undertake the role of keyworker, performing necessary tasks with residents’ approval such as keeping wardrobes, dressing tables and drawers tidy
To ensure escorts are provided for residents as necessary
To participate in the homes recreational and social activities
To liaise with residents family and friends to promote good communication
To ensure safe custody of residents finance and property according to policy
Be familiar with the policy and procedures required by CQC and abide by them
Attend and contribute to staff meetings to maintain good levels of communication
Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of care and management of the home and conduct self in such a way so as not to bring the home or its residents into disrepute
To participate in all mandatory training required by CQC
To identify and develop own training needs as part of a continuining professional development plan
To promote the health and safety of all staff and residents. Reporting any unsafe practices, procedures and equipment to Senior Nursing Assistants, Team Leaders, Nurses and Managers as deemed necessary and documenting any repairs in the maintenance book
To participate in appraisal, supervision and staff meetings as required by CQC
To perform other tasks that management may designate recognising that individuals skills, competencies and experience
